7/7, 3/11, 4/11, 10/12, 9/11

The explosions in london on 7/7 were quite predictable, given the previous use of memorable attack dates, by known violent extremist groups such as al Queda, JI.(Jemaah Islamiyah) and now the "sectret organisation" in the EU.

Albeit childish and simplistic, this method of planning attacks is effective both in the media and in the political arena. A name or number that is easily remembered is not easily forgotten; 9/11, 3/11, and 4/11(the bombing of a Tunisian synagogue in 02'). Other examples; the attacks on the U.S.S. Cole on 10/12/00 and the nightclub bombings in Bali, Indonesia on 10/12/02.

All these attacks were perpetrated (admittedly) by supporters and followers of either Osama Bin Laden or other al Queda factions. And now, Salon.com is reporting the FBI was aware of heightened security threats to the "tube" system in London. So aware, in fact, the agents working at the US embassy in London stopped using mass transit weeks ago.

7/7 will make us all feel a little bit British.
