Novak says in the Chicago Sun-Times today that Supreme Court sources are saying that "ailing Chief Justice William Rehnquist" will announce his retirement "before the week is over."
Two simutaneous openings on the Supreme Court has not occured since Rehnquist himself was an advisor to President Nixon in 1969-70
